Reservation Policy

Your experience at Custer is nothing like an ordinary hotel or rental, and for that, we are proud. As a SD State Park resort, our reservation policy is a little different, too. Read on, and when in doubt, our reservation team is here to help.

Deposits & Cancellations

All of our lodge rooms and most of our cabins may be booked with our standard deposit and cancellation policy; but we do have a few exceptions when it comes to our biggest and best specialty group cabins. Read on to discover the difference, and know before you book.

When you book a room, the cost of your room for the first and last night (plus tax) is required as a deposit. Your card will be charged for the deposit at the time of booking. Upon receipt of your deposit, you’ll receive an email confirming your reservation.

Please note...if you do not receive an email confirmation within 24-hours of making your reservation, please contact us. A reservation remains unconfirmed without an email confirmation.

Cancellation

We will refund your deposit if you cancel your reservation no less than 15 days before the arrival date. There is a $25 cancellation processing fee.

Reservations canceled less than 15 days before the arrival date will forfeit the deposit—with one exception. If we are able to re-rent the cabin or room to someone else, we will refund your deposit with a $25 cancellation fee.

Please note that not all cabins follow this policy. See "Specialty Cabin Policy".

Our specialty cabins are the largest cabins in the park—but book ahead, they fill up quickly. For these group cabins, a deposit will be collected for the entire stay upon making the reservation.

Cancellation

Reservations cancelled within 90 days of the arrival date will forfeit the deposit amount in full unless the unit can be re-rented for the entire stay. A $25 cancellation fee will be imposed against any refund due. Early check-outs will result in the deposit balance being held unless the remaining nights are re-rented.

Check-in is after 4:00 p.m. and check-out is before 10:00 a.m.

Both are strictly enforced, due to high occupancies.

Part of Custer State Park Resort's enchanting experience stems from its diversity, and our lodging options are no exception. Guests are able to chose between options like historical rooms, lodge rooms, and a wide assortment of cabins when booking their stay. Due to these variations, we must strictly enforce check-in and check-out times.

Check-in is after 4:00 p.m. and check-out is before 10:00 a.m.

Front desks are located in each of the main lodges.

For Creekside Lodge room reservations, check-in is at Creekside Lodge's front desk, as demand allows. During the shoulder season, check-ins may be routed through the neighboring State Game Lodge. Call ahead for clarification at 888-857-0001.

Wi-Fi is complimentary with all Custer State Park Resort stays; however, due to our remote location, signal strength is not guaranteed. In some cases, a signal cannot be obtained. If wi-fi is important to you, please inquire with our Reservations Team at 888-875-0001.

At Custer State Park Resort, we hope that everyone will take advantage of the ability to slow down and enjoy life being present and in the moment, just as Peter Norbeck did when he mapped Iron Mountain Road.

Cell signal strength varies greatly throughout Custer State Park's 71,000 acres. Some lodges offer a strong cell phone signal (varies by carrier) while others do not. Please plan accordingly.
