During the quiet off-season of the Winter months, the historic State Game Lodge Restaurant & Lounge may be rented for private group functions.

What Else Can I Expect During the Winter Months?

During the months of November through April, Custer State Parks Resort's main lodges, restaurants, and regular Park activities (and even some scenic drives) must close and/or be winterized. However, the Park does not close its doors entirely, and an annual SD Park Pass is valid all year long.

The southern Black Hills notoriously get far less snow than the northern Hills, and so many Custer State Park hiking trails are able to remain open and accessible all winter. Inquire at the Visitor Center for the most up-to-date information.
