Bring the whole crew

If you’re planning for a large group, it helps to have a plan. Here are some ideas to inspire you. Spend a day enjoying each Resort. Contact the Catering Office for group dining requests by calling 605-255-4672.

Sylvan Lake

Take Needles Highway up to Sylvan for a day at 6,000 feet. Try Sylvan’s Dining Room for a casual lunch on the patio, then head down to the Lake for the afternoon. If you’re feeling adventurous, take your pick at one of three hiking trails or stay and enjoy the swimming beach. Rent a canoe, kayak, water bike, or paddleboat. Fishing licenses are also available at the Sylvan Store, along with soft-serve ice cream, souvenirs and grab-and-go food.

Blue Bell Lodge

Start the morning off with a 1-hour group trail ride through the backcountry. Build your burger at Blue Bell’s Dining Room for lunch, and take a couple of hours in the afternoon to caravan the Wildlife Loop for photo ops. Return back to Blue Bell in the evening for the Chuck Wagon Cookout or a catered group meal in the White Buffalo Room. End the evening with s’mores back at your cabin around the firepit.

Legion Lake Lodge

If you have a lot of little tykes in the group, try a day at Legion Lake. Start with an easy hike around the lake. Ask for lunch to be brought out to you on the Deck, and then head to the beach area with the playground. When they’re all tuckered out, you’re not far from Needles Highway. Take it up to Sylvan Lake and enjoy dinner in the restaurant before heading back to your cabin.

State Game Lodge

Mornings are a great time for wildlife viewing, so start the day off with a Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour. Groups are easily accommodated at our lunch buffet in the Dining Room. Take your pick of an afternoon hike, or drive Iron Mountain Road up to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse for the afternoon. Return for the Chuck Wagon Cookout that evening, or a catered group meal at Creekside Lodge.
