Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Come be part of one of the largest and longest-running motorcycle rallies in the world. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally brings hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists to the Black Hills annually.

For 10 full days in August, the town of Sturgis and surrounding area bustles with campers, bikers, on-lookers and everything in between. The rally draws vendors and food trucks from around the country to downtown Sturgis. Walking Main and Lazelle streets in Sturgis is nothing short of an adventure. Here, you can catch some of the biggest characters and craziest custom bikes.

What to Expect Over Rally

It is important to know that the Rally itself does not take place anywhere near the Park. As a popular drive-through destination, we see plenty of day traffic over the Rally and welcome bikers for overnight stays. Peak visitation days are early in the week, so by the final weekend of the Rally each year, a quieter time has returned.

Cookouts at Every Lodge

For Bike Week, we know that restaurant wait times throughout the Black Hills can get long, and time is of the essence; especially when riding on two wheels. All Custer State Park Resort restaurants & stores are open over rally week; and all three of the four lodges set up outdoor cookouts to help keep people fed and on to the next ride.

Stop by during your ride along the scenic drives of the Wildlife Loop, Iron Mountain Road, or Needles Highway and grab a meal that includes a drink, sides, and philly, burger, brat, or other delicious options.

Sturgis Rally Lodging

Never have we ever raised our rates during Rally Week for a stay at Custer State Park Resort, and we happily welcome bikers who are seeking a scenic stay. The roads here are all paved, with minimal driveway exceptions on select cabins, and even most stays in the lodge rooms offer options with parking right outside your door. Also, gas pumps are available at Coolidge Store and at Blue Bell Lodge.

Past Rally guest feedback tells us that the park is a great place to stay for Sturgis Rally, that is "far enough away from the chaos".
