More people camped in the South Dakota State Parks this past year than ever before. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) reported that the parks hosted over 290,000 nights of camping last year, up 3.8 percent over 2013.
The state Game, Fish and Parks Department is asking the Legislature for a loan of $11.5 million for improvements and additional facilities at Custer State Park, including $500,000 for a world-class movie about bison that would be shown in the new visitor center being built near the park’s busy east entrance.
